Located in the hub of Magic Kingdom, the Partners statue is a tribute to the enduring partnership between Walt Disney and his beloved animated character Mickey Mouse. The Partners statue was sculpted by Disney Legend and Imagineer Blaine Gibson and was installed in 1993 for Mickey Mouse’s 65th birthday. Even though, like I mentioned, there are many others keeping up with a similar blog, I think that we each have a story to share. All of our experiences will be different. Therefore, I am excited to begin my journey over the next few months and see where it takes me. I will be posting pictures and videos and regular old blogs throughout my experience in order to share it with all of my friends, family and new “family,” being those in the program with me.
First some background about me. My name is Eric Blasius, I’m from West Bend, Wisconsin, and I am in my first semester at Waukesha County Tech College for my Associate Degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management.
A few weeks ago, a good friend of mine started telling me more about this interesting internship opportunity Disney offers. After looking more into it, I realized that this was definitely something that interested me. As I learned more and more about the program, I became more intrigued. Before I even realized I was doing it, I started the application process and had my phone interview. It went great! The days following, I got more and more excited. Within a week (on February 18th) I received this email:

I get more and more excited each day! I’m in the Fall Advantage 2010 session, and my arrival date is 5/19/2010.
My journey starts here.
